Consistently in Implement Sustainable Business, SSMS Achieves 4th Blue PROPER

 

PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS) resume the award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). Through 3 (three) business units, namely PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana (SSS), PT Kalimantan Sawit Abadi (KSA), and PT. True Mendawai Partner (MMS), SSMS received the Award of The Company's Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management (Proper) national level 2019-2020 with the Title of Blue. 

 

SSMS CEO Vallauthan Subraminam said he was proud of the PROPER award. According to him, this award is in line with SSMS sustainability commitment, which in carrying out its business applies the principle of social responsibility for society and the environment.

 

"This is the 4th time SSMS has received a Blue PROPER. This demonstrates SSMS's commitment as a world-class plantation company, consistent in implementing various policies and initiatives in sustainable environmental management and benefiting the surrounding community," he said.

 

The achievement of PROPER Blue is an advantage, while providing added value to environmental sustainability commitments. The achievement also demonstrates the Company's support for several global sustainable development goals (SDGs).

 

PROPER is an assessment program from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry provided to companies that have been proven to meet criteria: environmental documents, water pollution control, air pollution control and B3 waste control. By obtaining this Blue PROPER, SSMS has met all these criteria.

 

One of the SSMS Initiatives in environmental management, with the realization of the construction of biogas plants. Biogas is one of the common technologies used to process POME and convert it into electrical energy. The SSMS biogas plant can convert palm oil production waste into electrical energy which is then supplied to meet the Company's operational electricity needs and some of it is channeled to the surrounding settlements.

 

Vallauthan added, SSMS will continue to strive to maintain and maintain the predicate that has been achieved, especially in the field of sustainability.
