PT Kalimantan Sawit Abadi to Organized a Biogas Plant Development Socialization

PT Kalimantan Sawit Abadi (KSA) is holding a socialization on Clean Devolution Mechanism (CDM). This event aims to convey to stakeholders related to the use of biogas technology as environmentally friendly energy.

 
This socialization took place at the palm oil mill office (PKS) of Natai Baru Village, Arut Selatan Selatan District, Kotawaringin Barat Regency on October 8, 2019. KSA is a subsidiary of PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS).
 

According to Genga Raj Chimmathiri Chief of Engineer SSMS, the use of biogas aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to methane derived from palm oil mill processing wastes.
 

 As the keynote speaker at the event Genga Raj stated, the purpose of the biogas development was as a long-term business or investment in the palm oil sector. So as to produce energy sources that are more environmentally friendly and more economical when compared to using only diesel fuel.

SSMS already has a biogas plant in PKS Suayap. From this biogas plant, the electricity produced can be used to meet electricity needs in the factory, lighting company-owned housing, and part of it is channeled to Suayap Village.
 

After delivering the material, the event was continued with questions and answers about the process and results of the palm oil waste process, which was guided by Sahrudin, Head of Environmental Management for the Environmental Department of the West Kotawaringin Government as the moderator. In the discussion, it was seen that the stakeholders were very enthusiastic and welcomed the biogas development plan in PKS Natai Baru.
 

"We fully support the biogas development plan in PKS Natai Baru. I hope that the construction of the biogas plant will later benefit all residents around the factory. Especially if many of our residents can join this factory, "said Syahrudin, Head of South Arut District when giving his response to this project.
 

The event was attended by stakeholders from both the local government, village officials and community leaders in Natai Baru Village.
