SSMS Kick Off Meeting Implementing Sustainability Policy with Daemeter Consulting

PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS) conducted a kick off meeting on the implementation of the sustainability policy (suistainibility policy). This discusses to the company's commitment to implementing sustainability aspects as stipulated in the SSMS Sustainability Policy.
 

The kick off meeting was held on October 10, 2019, at the SSMS headquarters in Pangkalan Bun with the SSMS Sustainability consultant is Daemeter Consulting.
 

Daemeter is an independent consulting company in promoting sustainable development through responsible and equitable management of natural resources.
 

According to the representative and the Director of Daemeter Consulting, Aisyah said, in addition to running a sustainability policy, every plantation company needs to implement a No Deforestation Peat land and Exploitation (NDPE) policy. This means that every company is not allowed to do logging, planting on peat lands and exploitation in any form.
 

As an RSPO member, SSMS should have implemented the NDPE policy. This policy requires companies not to cut down forests, plant oil palm on peat lands, replace primary forests with oil palm and exploit workers or others.
