SSMS Business Units Add Certification From RSPO

To improve the sustainability of the plantation business, PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS) increased the acquisition of 2 (two) new RSPO certifications. The RSPO certification received on behalf of the PT Tanjung Sawit Abadi Palm Oil Mill (PKS Malata) and PT Sawit Multi Utama (PKS Nanga Kiu) Palm Oil Business Unit located in Lamandau Regency, Central Kalimantan.

This certificate was obtained on June 23, 2020 for PT. Multi Utama Palm (SMU) and June 25 for PT. Tanjung Sawit Abadi. The RSPO certification is issued by PT.SGS Indonesia, as an RSPO certification body

With the addition of 2 certifications, SSMS already has 6 RSPO certifications in 2020 or has reached 80% of the 8 (eight) Palm Oil Mills (PKS) that the Company has. While the PKS that will follow the certification is PT Menteng Kencana Mas (PKS Kanamit) which is planned for semester 2 of 2021.

In addition to maintaining the quality and sustainability of the business, SSMS also provides assistance to independent oil palm farmers located around the company. Since 2018, SSMS has encouraged the formation of the Palm Oil Farmers Association (APKSM) in Kotawaringin Barat, that to encourage farmers to carry out "Sustainable gardening practices" ". The APKSM farmer members that were officially formed in 2019 have received RSPO Smallholder certification consisting of 340 farmers with an area of ??710 hectares. The extent of RSPO Smallholder certification has now reached 71% of the target of 1000 hectares to be completed in 2020.
