Declaration of Commitment, Mekar Mulya Village Ready to Participate in RSPO Certification Program of Self-Help Planters With SSMS

 

Mekar Mulya Village has declared its commitment to participate in the certification assistance program of The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) of self-help planters of PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana, Tbk. (SSMS) on Wednesday (05/08).

 

The declaration at the Village Hall Building was attended by Head of Sustainability of SSMS Henky Satrio W, Enviromental and Biodiversity Manager of SSMS Andri Najiburrahman, Head of Mekar Mulya Herlangga Triatmaja H Village, Chairman of BPD, Chairman of BUMDes Mulya Jaya and representatives of Internal Control System (ICS) management and Community Leaders of Mekar Mulya Village.

 

During the meeting, Henky revealed the company will take a role in encouraging self-help planters, especially Mekar Mulya Village to obtain RSPO certificates. Henky hopes that this cooperation will not only be limited to getting RSPO certification, but how companies can contribute to increasing crop productivity that will have an impact on improving the welfare of self-help planters themselves. "This is one form of the company's commitment in strengthening Indonesia's sustainable palm oil standards. Later, self-help planters involved in this program can adopt best practices for environmentally friendly and sustainable palm plantation management," Henky added.

 

Enviromental and Biodiversity Manager, Andri Najiburrahman also added, in the long term this mentoring program aims to improve the quality of self-help planter products. So later the quality of the product between self-help planters and companies is the same or similar. "There will be many benefits for self-help planters who follow this program, including in addition to getting international product certificates, planters also get premium prices and premiums from the sale of certified palm oil through the palm trace scheme," he said.

 

Meanwhile, The Head of Mekar Mulya Village, Herlangga Triatmaja H said, through this program the planters can improve competence and quality in managing the garden sustainably. And hopefully, the participation of Mekar Mulya Village planters in this certification program can be a pioneer for self-help planters in Lamandau Regency.

 

SSMS targets the area of the garden that will be certified the first stage will reach 700 hectares with the number of planters ± 100 people. And do not rule out the possibility, certification in the next stage will increase.
