Partnership with KTH Masoraian Community, SSMS Participates in Sustainable Masoraian Community Area

 

PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk. (SSMS) through the business unit of PT Mirza Pratama Putra (MPP) established a partnership with the Forest Farmers Group (KTH) of The Masoraian Community in efforts to maintain and preserve social forestry areas with the Community Forest scheme (HKm) based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Number: SK.1628 / MENLHK-PSKL / PKPS / PSL.0 / 3/2019 with an area of ± 3,006 hectares located in Kotawaringin Lama, West Kotawaringin County.

 

The joint agreement on the empowerment of social forestry groups and conservation partnerships was outlined in a cooperation agreement signed in Astana Alnursari in August. Head of Sustainability of SSMS, Henky Satrio W. said that the Company realizes the importance of an environment with biodiversity that must be maintained properly and sustainably, to realize that commitment SSMS establishes a partnership with KTH Communities Karya Masoraian. "There are five main programs in this partnership, namely forest protection, darkhutla countermeasures, research, empowerment and economic development of the community and the promotion of Masoraian community forests," he said.

 

"This partnership was also welcomed by the Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership (BPSKL) Of Kalimantan Region, Forest Service, West Kotawaringin Regency Government and KPHP XXII Kotawaringin Barat, in order to maintain forest sustainability," he added. Furthermore, Henky said, this partnership program will run for the next 5 years with a focus on these five activities. As a realization of this partnership, independent patrols and joint patrols have been carried out with KTH Karya Masoraian.

 

The future plan will be carried out boundary marking, installation of warning boards and warnings, handling of forest fires and baseline studies. Baseline study is carried out as a basis for sustainable regional management and community empowerment programs.

 

While. Chairman of KTH Karya Masoraian, Kusnadi welcomed this partnership. "We are obliged to guard the forest around Lake Masoraian from various threats, such as illegal logging and fire threats. To realize this is not an easy job, it takes multi-party synergy collaboration in this case PT MPP as our partner", said Kusnadi.

 

Kusnadi hopes that this partnership relationship can continue to grow and continue over time, not only focusing on forest care programs but through other innovation programs in the field of conservation and empowerment and institutional strengthening of community groups, especially the Masoraian Forest Farmers Group (KTH).
